Dr. Singh provides ongoing therapy to parents and young children. Her focus in therapy is initially from understanding the parents’ or caregiver’s perspective through two important lenses, theirs, and a developmental one. Dr. Singh will spend time in the clinical consultation asking about developmental milestones of the child, the family’s culture and approach and expectation of their child. She also asks about parenting roles, goals and differences (if applicable).
If needed, Dr. Singh may ask to speak to the providers in your child’s life such as the preschool teacher or occupational therapist to gather additional important information. Dr. Singh is practical and goal-oriented. She will establish goals with your family and closely monitor them after 4-6 weeks to ensure progress is being made.
Dr. Singh provides guidance and specific suggestions along the way. She may ask your family to come into the clinic to practice these skills or send a video of your family interacting. Her approach is from a developmental perspective with clinical information embedded from the literature on parenting young children. She is happy to share her favorite books, websites, and recent training. Dr. Singh is not a registered play therapist.
